My Role
UX/UI Designer

A design project to find ways to build trust and transparency with the donor base of an NGO.

Who are Billit?

Biilit is a mobile-app company that aims to reduce the usage of paper for bills by going digital. For this, they created an app for vendors to create bills on mobile phone and for customers to receive and store them in their Billit app.

The problem

Every minute, all over the world a million purchases and transactions take place and bills are mandatory in most places. In US alone, 282,500 tons of paper is used for thermal bills, each year. This is strenuous for the environment and Billit wants to contribute to the effort to reduce paper usage.

Scope of this phase

Billit is a company based in North India and with this re-design and development it aims to reach a number of vendors and customers in major cities of North India.

My Role

I had the opportunity of working as a UX/UI designer under a Senior UX Designer Akim Kasmani (ITzak).

My tasks in this project included:

Talk to the stakeholder/owner to understand their vision and plan for the re-design.
Communicate the owner's vision to the developer to check technical feasibility.
Design mid-fidelity wireframes and present them to stake-holder.
Iterate wireframes based on Senior Designer input.
Present high-fidelity wireframes with a basic prototype to the stakeholder.
Communicate with and iterate for Developer.

Share app with Vendors

Users can share the app with the vendors that they want to see in the Billit network.

Inventory of items

Vendors can create an inventory of their products, to be quickly added to the bills they create.

Saved Bills - Customers

Customers can take a look at a list of all their bills in a sequence.

Share app with Customers

Users can share the app with
their friends.

Sample Bill

Once the Vendor creates a bill of a template they choose, they can send it to the customers through

the app or pdfs.

The bill creating process

Select the type of bill

When the vendors first set-up their business profile, they can select the type of bill that would be relevant to their business, Each bill type has slightly different fields. The 4 templates were provided by the stakeholder.

Prototype

For a look at the full re-design, see this prototype.

Reflection

One of the major experiences in this project was understanding the client's knowledge of their users and their product and translating it into the re-design. This required a lot of communication with the client. I also had to communicate constantly with the Senior Designer who was working with the developer. Tech feasibility was a factor that dictated the direction of our project. Overall, there were not many hurdles in this project, except for a few design adjustments.

Finally, the client was happy with the re-design and is all set to market and expand his product. They said that this re-design would help them proudly present their product to vendors.
